Welcome! My name is Shawn Dickens. I am a prior Navy Corpsman and Marine with a combined 16 years of military service. During part of my time in the Marine Corps I served as a Public Affairs Specialist/ Combat Correspondent. I had the pleasure of serving as the Social Media Manager for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. I also served as the Press Chief and eventually as Editor for “The Chevron”, the MCRD San Diego on-base newspaper. During my time in public affairs I developed skills in social media management, photography, journalism, Layout/ design and editing. I also provided media escort support to high visibility officials and foreign dignitaries.


I currently live in Texas with my Wife and two children. I have my Bachelor’s in Public Relations and Advertising minoring in Communications Studies from Sam Houston State University. during my time at SAM I served as the Social Media Manager for “The Houstonian”, the SHSU school paper. I currently work for Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a social media content creator/ graphic designer. I also help run social media for a veteran founded 501c nonprofit called Bullets And Bandaids.

My Assault Amphibious Vehicle crew and I during my last deployment in the Marine Corps. During my Military career I served first as a Navy Corpsman providing medical support to the Marines in Afghanistan. When my time was over in the navy I joined the Marines as a Combat Correspondent. Eventually I changed MOS fields to serve as an AAV Crewman. I eventually became a Section Leader with Alpha Company, 1st Platoon, 3rd Assault Amphibious Battalion at Camp Pendleton California.
